He offered the collection to King George II in exchange of £20,000 which he requested to be paid to his heirs. Although the King has apprehensions about the offer, the Parliament has suggested accepting the offer.

It was on January 15, 1759 that the British Museum was first opened to the public. Throughout the centuries, the collections displayed in the museum have drastically increased in number. Buses stop on New Oxford Street, Tottenham Court Road, Gower Street and Southampton Row. When planning to take a car, make sure you have reserved a parking space; otherwise, you may have a hard time finding a place to park your car. The museum has a limited parking space.
